Our Semi-Commercial range of Aussie Xtreme generic salt cells are manufactured with the same quality De Nora plate electrode material but instead utilising the 15,000 hour plate coating.  Also manufactured in the US all of our commercial grade generic replacement salt cells are covered with a full 2 year commercial warranty and a 3 year full warranty in domestic applications. 

How long should a quality salt cell last?

A good quality Generic cell should last 3-5 years (running 6 hours/day on average) depending on water quality and maintenance this is better than some new salt cells sold by some leading manufacturers of new chlorinators. 

Is a genuine salt cell better quality than a generic? 

Depending of who has manufactured the generic salt cell the answer to this question is varied.  Some genuine salt cells are of amazing quality and usually come at a premium price. However most of the salt chlorinators produced (overseas) for the Australian market utilise their buying power and most often time use Chinese manufactured electrode material which is sub standard and historically have a reduced working life. 

Buyer beware of a pro-rata warranty on a generic salt cell. 

Some resellers offer up to 6 Years (Pro-Rata) warranty but essentially only has 12 Months full warranty. If the cell fails in the remaining 5 years of the warranty there will be a discount off RRP which often ends up being more expensive than just buying a new replacement cell at market price. This is usually used as a selling technique but more times than not are one of the cheaper manufactured products. These products usually fail way before the warranty period has expired and the warranty is usually denied under the clause of poor water maintenance. 

What is a good warranty for a generic replacement salt cell?

Generic salt cell warranty vary from 1 year to 6 year pro-rata (as mentioned above) but a good warranty for a domestic generic replacement salt cell is a 2 year full warranty. If it is a full warranty of mare than 2 years and there is no clause in the warranty terms regarding water chemistry and operation hours then that is a good warranty. 

What is the warranty on a VortexPool generic salt chlorinator cell? 

All VortexPool salt cells have a full 2 year warranty no questions asked. If your salt cell fails withing 2 years then it will be replaced (not repaired) with a new one. There are no restrictions with water chemistry or total run hours.  So if it is a domestic replacement salt cell in a domestic application and the cell is tested to be faulty within 2 years of the purchased date it will be replaced.
