Why do you need Ozone?

Ozone that is present in your water can destroy chlorine by-products called chloramines. These by-products are created when free chlorine is utilised to remove algae or bacteria in your swimming pool. These “Chlorine smell” producing molicules are what make up the difference between free and total chlorine levels (combines) in your pool.  As well as high free chlorine levels and unbalanced PH, Chloramines can cause allergy triggers, red eyes and itchy skin. 

How Ozone works?

The Ozone generated from the corona discharge ozone stsem inside the power supply  helps to remove the chloramines from the water and removes them by oxidisation. This largly happens in your pipework on it's way to the pool and quickly disperses into the atmosphere as a gas. The salt / Mineral chlorinator does the majority of the sanitising work in your swimming pool, by adding a residual sanitiser (chlorine) and reducing the risk of ear, throat and other infectins which may result when the free chlorine level in a swimming pool registers below 2ppm. 

What Create's Healthy Crystal Clear Water, Chlorine or Ozone?

The chlorine producing salt chlorinator part of this system is the real key to Ozone Swim's success. Without a chlorine residual Ozone is unable to keep your pool clean and safe to swim in unless the system is running 24 hour / day 365 days a year with frequent shocking to refresh the pools water. Ozone enriched pool water is healthier because it is purifing the water and removing what chloramines that may or may not be there.

OzoneSwim is a system which adds active ozone to the pool water via venturi. The ozone works to support the chlorine in an already chemically balanced swimminhg pool. As a result, your pH, alkalinity, residual (free) chlorine levels are the most important levels to monitor on a regular basis.  

Is Ozone a necessity or overkill in domestic swimming pools?

Traditional salt or chlorine swimming pools tend to over produce chlorine for most of the year. When testing domestic swimming pool water in Australia most pool companies or shops don't usually test total chlorine. This is due to the conistently low levels of chloramines in most backyard swimminh pools.

What types of pools suit the Ozone the best?

The types of swimming pools that have have relatively high levels of chloramines (the by-product of chlorine sanitation) are indoor pools. swimschools and resort pools where there is a high bather load to pool water ratio. 

While chloramines are sometimes known as triggers and irritants for people with allergies, asthma, eczema and other skin allergies these symptoms can also be triggered by unbalance pool chemistry or over chlorination.
